My traveller friend asked me if I wanted to go to Babuyan Islands (see next post) that summer, who am I to say No? Haha
We booked a flight to Tuguegarao. This will be our jumpoff point to Aparri, and from Aparri we'll ride a ferry to Calayan Island.
Okay. Enough of that.
We decided to have a pit stop in Tuguegarao to see Callao Cave and eat Batil Patong.
Callao Cave is the infamous cave with a church inside it.
Upon deplaning, we walked towards the airport and kept on walking towards the tricycle station. We haggled for a trip to Callao Cave, since it's very far from the town proper. We managed to get it for just Php700/rt/2persons.
Get ready for an hour of bumpy ride!
You need to pay for a Php20 entrance fee.
Once you got in, you can either go down and enjoy the river, or go up 100 steps to enter the cave.
It was soooo cold inside. Cool breeze will warmly welcome (pun intended) you once you get inside.
The cave is huge! It has a lot of sections and the ground is a little muddy and wet.
Once explored, we went up to the viewing deck to satisfy ourselves with the view and then started descent.
We got back to town straight to a restaurant where the famous pansit is served.
Batil patong is supppperrrr!!!
We ordered 3 special meals not knowing that one serving is actually good for 3 persons. It was just Php 75 for a serving. It is best eaten with freshly chopped onions and soy sauce!
After satisfying our growling stomachs, our driver drove us to the terminal of vans going to Aparri. (100/person) It was a 2-3 hours travel time. Once we are at the tip of Luzon island, we looked for a place to stay for the night, we got one for just 500php. We changed clothes, rest, eat, walked around the town for a couple of minutes, got back and called it a night.
We woke early to eat breakfast and get ready for our trip to Babuyan Islands. (See next post)
